Task Force Boone Showcasae || 06/02/2026 x
So recently I have been getting into this indie Skirmish game called BLKOUT. It is set in the year 2090 on a planet within the Proxima Centauri system called ABOL, the only one inhabitied outside of the Sol system. There's a lot more to the lore , like how the UN owns ABOL and nuked Earth on their way out but that can be read on the BLKOUT website.
However the gameplay is real rad to me, it is a small scale skirmish game that is structured similarly to a tactical FPS game like Counter-Strike, R6-Siege, or even Tarkov. Each mini dies in one hit(most of the time) so cover is the name of the game, leaning out of cover is a central tool for your units. Actions occur mostly occur on a 1v1 level as each mini has plenty of choices and opportunities for reactions. The rules are also quite easy to pickup and learn but there is certainly depth to it.

Onwards to the main point of the post, what I painted!

Above is a photo of the whole Task Force Boone: Recon force from the starter box. Left to right is a VAT Element, a Razorback drone, and a Pathfinder Team.

First up is the Pathfinder Team, and yes I did give one Tactical Cat Ears. They were the first of the force I painted and are also the most simple. Within gameplay they are a good baseline unit to take and hold objectives and push up, with their SAW gunner they can lock down an area but they are not the best shots nor do they have the best armour.

Next up is the VAT Force, with their jumpkits they are the tip of the spear of the force, taking the high ground and providing overwatch for the rest of the force.

Finally is my favorite of the bunch, the Razorback! Its a beefy autonomous weapons platform for taking shots and laying down fire. It was also my first time trying to do the muzzle flash lighting effect on display which I am very proud of how it turned out [Just ignore that I missed a spot on the ammo box]. Apparently it was so good that one of the BLKOUT Creative team members asked if they could post it on their Social media!
